Someday...someday...

Someday I’m going to ask Mike to stay at the Adventure Inn & Suites down in Gurnee.

When I was living in Illinois I liked to hit up a pair of thrift stores near the hotel and I was always curious about it. It had a chipped sign and fake palm trees. Wind had stripped the leaves from each frond, so it was a bunch of concrete beige trunks with green spears coming off the tops. Eventually I found the website and knew I had to visit someday.

The rooms are pricey, but I can save it up. I’ve been wanting to do this for forever.

Here you can see a list of all the rooms. My favorites are Caesar’s Palace, Under the Sea, Hawaiian Holiday, and the Igloo. Although the Batman and Roswell-themed rooms do have a certain charm as well. I’ll avoid the Reflection room…all those mirrors would just force me to find cellulite I didn’t know I had.

Man. I hope they’re just as campy when I get there as they are in the photos. I mean, how can you resist it?

There was a hotel like that near here called FantaSuites. I did the tour one day hoping for something spectacular but instead being sorely disappointed. Every room was tiny and smelled like mildew. They werent worth the money at all.

Hopefully your hotel is MUCH nicer! I would definitely recommend the tour ahead of time though.

You know, I've seen these type of hotels on TV and in movies, but I don't think I even know where one is in real life. Ha. I like the igloo room, or the city lights one. I've always wanted to go to Memphis and stay at the Heartbreak Hotel, I heard they have a lot of Elvis-themed rooms.
