Weekend Recap

Today is the first day of my week-long spring break and I couldn't be happier to be off. Sleeping is getting hard now...I usually wake up between 2 AM and 4 AM because my back and hip start to ache. When school is in session I try to go back to sleep since I know I have to get up at 5:20 AM. During days off, though, I get up and stay up for an hour or two, and then head back to bed for a few more hours of sleep (that's why I'm typing this at 3:40 in the morning). This makes my joints feel much better and instead of waking up sore I wake up feeling good.

This weekend was busy. On Saturday I paid the price for my shoveling...I was sore all day. I had forgotten that after exercise you're usually sore a day or two later, but I was reminded when I got out of bed on Saturday morning. I spent most of the day grumbling, getting back massages from Mike, or leaning against my hot pack. By the late afternoon, though, I was feeling much better and even took a walk to the pharmacy with Mike.

On Sunday we went to church and then to my parents' house for lunch. I got to hang out with my brother and sister, which was nice, and it's always good to see my mom and dad. They also helped us out by giving us a bed frame. For some reason our bed frame has broken (I told Mike that it was probably because he brought home some crazy rocker girls and they weakened it before he dated me, but he assures me that wasn't the case). Usually you just get a bed frame when you buy mattresses...I'd never seen a bed frame for sale on its own. Unfortunately our frame had been screwed, riveted, propped, and patched together until it could just no longer stand on its own. I mentioned this to my dad and he offered to give us his old bed frame, since my parents had just bought a bedroom set and gotten a new frame. I felt somewhat guilty taking it...I felt like I should be an adult and procure my own frame. But not taking it would be dumb since it was just sitting in their basement gathering dust. Either way, it'll be nice to get the mattresses on the new frame...Mike and I had recently agreed that we should just set them on the floor since it would be more comfortable than trying to settle in bed and having it creak, dip, and slant with every movement.

After that we went to Mike's parents' house. Visiting and dinner was nice, even though Mike's mom offered us several opinions and bits of unwanted advice. She did say a few times, though, "I know I shouldn't worry, I should just know that you have your act together." Maybe someday she'll trust us enough not to worry all the time.

Today Mike has off because of the Easter holiday. We might go to the Milwaukee Public Museum (free admission for residents on Mondays!), or we might stay home and putter around the apartment. It'll be his choice. I have off all week, but he only has off today.

Time to get back to sleep!
