Rocking Chair Challenges
Mike and I found an acceptable chair. I know it's not much, but it's sturdy and the price was right. The chair was normally priced at $30, but we went on half-price day, so I got it for $15.
I enjoy thrifting.
Yeah. Stenciled fruit in gold paint on the back of the chair. I'm not sure if it was original or if someone did it at home, but I hate it. I bought it figuring that I'd just paint the chair off-white once I got home. I'm also going to paint a small table and a bookcase off-white, so they'd all go together.
Now, the color of the crib matches the color of the chair pretty closely, so when we got it in Philo's room Mike mentioned that we should just leave it unpainted. Unfortunately, I can't stand that fruit. I'm not sure what the best approach is, so I figured I'd ask you all. Keep in mind that I'm going to take the cushions off and replace them eventually, so just erase them from your mind when you envision the options.
As I see it, here are my options:
1. Paint the entire chair
2. Paint the fruit panel, arms, and seat off-white and leave the rest wood - this could look half-assed, but it could also serve to tie the table and bookcase in with the crib
3. Paint only the back panel with a Winnie the Pooh motif
4. Live with the fruit
What do you all think?

Two words.
"Bumper Sticker"
you could get someone to make a cushion back that slides over the entire back so that there's a padded place to put your head on those late night feeds...like a pillow case over the back.
Sand it off and refinish the chair. You might not even need to sand it if you can find a chemical stripping agent to take it off. The only downside might be that you'll have to refinish the whole chair, but you were looking to paint the whole thing, anyhow. It's also getting warm enough that you could probably do it outside.
i am so jealous of this find. freaky fruit and all (i? not creative or crafty so NO idea wth to do with that fruit except find a way to make it vanish! eeeeeew! the cushion over the head portion is smart!)
I left you a comment, where did it go?
I agree, no painting. Pillow head rest. You could even make one yourself.
Small pillow, ribbon to tie it on.
Voila. No fruit.
Take Two:
No painting, no two tone.
Use cushions to tie in the white the furniture in the room. If you're feeling really froggy one day you could paint a Pooh scene over the fruit. Because you're one hundred times more talented than me.
