Am I pregnant?

I have a LiveJournal and I subscribe to a few communities there. One is all about things that happen in Milwaukee, two are for cloth diapering, and my favorite is a community called “Am I Pregnant?”

Am I Pregnant is a community where people post with one burning question – am I pregnant? And then other community members try to answer. You have to fill out this big questionnaire about when you had sex, where ejaculation occurred, what protection you used (if any), the length of your cycle, and any symptoms you’re experiencing.

Here are some actual questions I saw on the community:

I’m trying to conceive, and I had sex yesterday. Can you tell me if I’m pregnant?

My period was supposed to start today, but it hasn’t! Could I be pregnant?

I’ve had two positive pregnancy tests, but I used birth control pills at least some of the time! I’m not pregnant, am I?

I lost my virginity last night and now I’m worried that I’m pregnant, could I be LOLOLOLOL?

My period isn’t due for a week, but I have heartburn and nausea. Could I be pregnant?

I know my cycle is never regular, and I used protection every time, but can you tell me if I’m pregnant anyway?

I’ve been eating a lot lately, and my boobs grew! That means I’m pregnant, right? I mean, maybe those two things are related, but maybe not!

And my favorite question and answer set:

Where did ejaculation occur (in vagina, in condom, outside body, etc.)?

Mostly in vagina, some on face.

Didn’t need to know the last part, thanks!

I really want to just buy everyone on that site a damn pregnancy test. Really.

In other news, I called in sick to work today because I was having contractions. However, the more I walk around and the longer I sit here, the more I think that it's all just Braxton-Hicks. My doctor told me that there would be days that I'd think I was in labor and I'd go home or stay home and find out that it was nothing. That's just the nature of things when you work right up until you go into labor. Still, I feel like a complete dope. I think I'll spend the day cleaning and walking in hopes of getting things started.

  • Yahoo Answers has a bunch of questions like that too. People are crazy. Yes, a simple pregnancy test will give them the answer they need! Sheesh.

  • Hint to all the Am I Pregnant folks. $1 store pregnancy test. Sheesh. Buy a case!

Keep us posted on the non-contractions and the walking!! Don't worry about taking the day -- you need to save your strength for the actual 'birthin'. Enjoy the time...

  • i found that the braxton-hicks contractions didn't hurt, they just made my belly rock hard. the same is true for my sister-in-law. when labour actually started, i knew. it was most definitely not pain free.

those questions lead me to the questions...how did they manage to live so long? why can't the ability to become pregnant come with the necessary knowledge and common sense to actually be a parent? ugh.
