Philo's Room

Philo's room is finally ready. Pretty much.

Philo's room is actually Mike's office. I feel really bad that Mike had to give it up, even though he seems to enjoy his workspace in the basement. Anyway, this is what the room looked like when Mike was inhabiting it. Keep in mind that he'd already cleaned some things out at this point.
He had everything in there from a drill press to a sewing machine to his computer. It was his creative space. When I first moved in he talked about us sharing the office, but I declined. It was for the best - I think he needs his own space to do stuff.

Mike was a good sport, though, and moved his stuff into the basement. Then we installed all of Philo's things. Like I said before, I had never intended this to be a real nursery since we'll be moving soon, and until we move Philo will probably be staying in our bedroom. But that nesting instinct is a bitch, so I did the best I could with his room. Keep in mind that we live in a 100 year old house that is one step away from being demolished (it'll be flattened as soon as the property is sold) so it's not very impressive.

This is the nursing station. The chair has its offensive gold fruit covered by a blanket. Mike and I spray painted the table which is actually a lot harder than brush painting. I learned my lesson. You can also see the pictures I painted.

They had Winnie the Pooh bedding sets on sale at Target, so Mike and I bought one. Philo will be too young for a blanket for a good long while, but instead of letting it go to waste I sewed a sleeve in the back, inserted a dowel, and used it as a wall hanging.

A dark shot of the crib.
This is the other end of the room. Philo will have a lot of stuffed animals. You can also see the bookcase has some spray painting on it. I bought some Winnie the Pooh material and will use it to make a long wall-hanging type thing to cover the paint. You can also see that we have a lot of things that won't be useful right away, such as the high chair and the baby gate. Babies sure do require a lot of equipment.

This is Mike's contribution. He carved and painted Philo's name out of wood. We've been joking that he'll have another project ahead of him if the ultrasound was wrong and Philo is actually a Molly.

So that's it. See how cool your room is, Philo? Feel free to come out and enjoy it any time now.
