Welcome, Philo!
As you guys heard, I finally had the kid. It was 37 hours of back labor, and 3 hours of that was pushing. I was exhausted, and towards the middle I threw up because of the pain. I had three doses of some kind of temporary pain reliever, but when my labor stalled at 9 cm and they decided to administer Petosin to speed things along and I got an epidural. Things were okay after the epidural until pushing got difficult due to the way Philo's head was tilted. Then they dialed the epidural way down so I could feel things. Thanks, guys.
He's worth it, though. Every bit. You can see for yourself here.
We're home now and taking things slow. Tonight is our first night alone without a bunch of nurses around. I'm excited (it really is hard to sleep with someone popping into your room every half hour or hour, and things will be much less lonely with Mike here) and nervous. Philo gets really lethargic during the day and sleeps, so he's up and fussy all night. Hopefully we'll get things figured out eventually.

Congratulations to you and Mike. Philo is absolutely adorable! They are worth it. I still remember what it was like the first day I brought my first little one home. You're doing well if you're just nervous. I was, personally, terrified! It all worked out and was really a lot of fun. Get plenty of rest and enjoy these early days. It really does go by so quickly. (My first baby girl is celebrating her first wedding anniversary this weekend, and it seems like just yesterday when I brought her home.)

Be prepared for the most exciting adventure of your lives. Kids are just plain wonderful...at every stage. Hard to believe that mine will be 33 in July and getting married in October.
