Scenes from the Neighborhood
Like I've said before, Mike and I are really enjoying our new neighborhood. These are a few pictures I took on a recent walk.
We live within walking distance of a park with a small playground. Little P loves running around in the sand.

It also has a small pond complete with ducks, frogs, at least one turtle, and fish.

On our walk we found a pedestrian bridge that goes over the freeway. It's notable because we weren't aware of it until just a few days ago. I've driven that stretch of I-94 a million times and never noticed it.

There were no steps leading up to it, just one long ramp. I had to hang onto the stroller on our way down.

We also live near a Walgreens. When I was a kid we lived in the middle of nowhere, a 20 minute drive to the nearest pharmacy that was only open from 9 AM - 8 PM. I didn't think that was so bad. Then a few years ago after a New Years party Mike's albuterol inhaler ran out unexpectedly, and we drove across town in the middle of an asthma attack to get a replacement at the nearest 24 hour Walgreens. Now I think that living near a 24 hour pharmacy is a huge bonus, not only for asthma meds, but also in case we ever run out of baby tylenol or anything like that.

We have a Starbucks near our house. I thought I'd go there a lot, but I've only been there once. I was getting a caramel macchiato for Mike to ease the pain he encountered while installing our new faucet.

We also have a Home Depot and a grocery store, which is handy. As you can tell by the photo, it was starting to get dark. Being in a neighborhood that I feel safe walking around in after dark is really nice.

So that's where we live. Once we're completely done unpacking I'll make a video of the inside of the house. Exciting!

Looks great! It also looks a lot like our neighborhood, except we lack the ped bridge over the local heavily traveled road (IL Rte 59). Yaaaaaaaay for your new hosue!

It looks like a great neighborhood. I've always wanted to live within walking distance of stores and restaurants. I wouldn't even know what that was like.
